It’s been a little over three months since our first alpha release. Since then we’ve made significant changed to JahshakaVR. It almost feels brand new. We improved the user interface, added a new rendering engine (IrisGL) and, finally, added VR rendering (Only Oculus HMDs supported at the moment).
We have finally managed to release the alpha version of the Jahshaka VR authoring toolkit under the GPL and wanted to invite people to jump in, look at the code and help out. We have been working on it for 6 months now and its starting to stabilize.
We are pleased to say that we have been making great progress with the development of the new Jahshaka VR platform which is being rebuilt from the ground up with virtual reality as its core offering. Any one will be able to use it to easily craft beautiful worlds and share them across multiple platforms; from linux, windows and mac to mobile devices and the web. Jahshaka is being built as a platform for digital artists, not engineers, and our team is working very hard to make the new Jahshaka VR as easy to use and intuitive as possible. While […]
So after many years we have finally started development of Jahshaka VR. Jahshaka VR will be a complete VR authoring toolkit made for digital artists, with a focus on in-vr authoring. We are currently working with Qt 5.6 and Qt3D 2.0 as our core framework, and Oculus DK2 as our development hardware. We were lucky to have a brand new 20 core (dual 10 core) Dell Precision 7800 donated to us along with a MSI NVidia GeForce 970 card so have some good kit. We currently have myself (original jahshaka author) and 1 full time developer working on the 3D […]
Pleased to say that we have launched the new Jahshaka website! Not only nice to look at, and very functional (tutorials sections etc) it has a great forum that uses single sign on to allow us to re-build our community without having to worry about spammers killing the site (what used to happen!) Take a look and let us know what you think at http://www.jahshaka.com
Been busy upgrading my bitcoin mining rig to 1.6 gig antminers, these babys rock and add up real fast to give you a lot of bang for your buck. I am pleased to say that I have received my Oculus Rift and will be integrating the camera in the Animation module with the OR so that you can build and create in true 3d. I also got a hold of a Leap motion that will allow us to grab and move objects in 3d space which would make for a truly immerse content creation platform. Inspiring kit !
Check out the new JahTV, now we have a cool new platform to showcase the work that we create – and that we can use to follow the work thats being done by the pros at the same time… and the cool thing is that it came with a lot of awesome content so come and take a look at JahTV http://www.jahtv.com Content creation is 50% power and inspiration and 50% being found! Now we just need for people to send us links to the content they have been creating so we can get it up and showcase it! […]

Martin Fink, VP of Linux at HP used Jahshaka as a example of a Cool Open Source Application years ago at LinuxWorld in San Francisco back in 2005 and I just found the demo clip that they showed to the audience. Pretty cool for 10 years ago!
